About this tool
What is the Lorem Ipsum Generator?
Generate lorem ipsum placeholder text for mockups, design comps, and content modeling. Pick the unit (paragraphs, sentences, words, characters, or bytes) and the quantity. Choose classic Latin or alternative dialects (cat ipsum, hipster ipsum, bacon ipsum) for variety.
Designers use lorem to visualize layouts before content is ready. Developers use it to test text-overflow behaviour. The browser-based generator is faster than reaching for an extension.

Questions about the Lorem Ipsum Generator
What's lorem ipsum?
Latin-derived placeholder text that's been used in design since the 1500s. The standard text starts 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...' — chosen because it has a normal-looking letter distribution (no English meaning to distract from the layout).
Can I generate exact word or character counts?
Yes — pick the unit (words, characters, bytes, paragraphs) and the exact count. The generator trims to the target precisely so a '500-character description' field gets exactly 500 characters.
Are the alternative dialects free too?
Yes — cat ipsum, hipster ipsum, bacon ipsum, and pirate ipsum all generate from word lists shipped with the tool. No external API calls.
